Tech Giant Apple recently launched it's 2018 smartphones. This time with 3 smartphones. Three out of Two which are the successor to last year's flagship iPhone X and one successor to iPhone 8. The successors to iPhone X are named as iPhone XS and the bigger variant iPhone XS Max. And the successor to iPhone 8 is called iPhone XR.
In this article, I will talk about my opinions on the new iPhone models. If you're new to the family, be sure to check out our YouTube channel and Facebook Page.
What's New?
First, let's talk about the iPhone XS. The iPhone XS looks very similar to the last year's iPhone X. There is a dual vertical camera on the back and a big notch on the front. You will get a new color option with the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max which is the gold color. Other options are of silver and space grey. Talking about the displays, iPhone XS and XS Max come with a 5.8" & 6.5" OLED HDR Display with 459ppi respectively.

Talking about cameras, the rear camera is a 12-megapixel wide angle with f/1.8 and 12-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture setup. Both support optical image stabilization and can shoot max at 4K 60 fps.
According to Apple, they have improved the rear camera overall. The rear camera now comes with smart HDR which works like HDR i.e brings more details and shadows to the images.
Talking about the front camera on the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, there is a 7-megapixel wide-angle sensor with a f/2.2 aperture on the front of both devices. The front camera can shoot at 1080p quality and with un-named stabilization. There is an IP-68 dust and water resistant so you can wash your iPhone. Also, there is a dual-sim support for China models. And eSIM compatibilities for the global market.

Comparing to last year's iPhone X, there are no major advancements in the camera segment.
Although in the launch event, Apple used much time to talk about features in the camera app which are already available in $200 Huawei phones. The feature was of controlling the blur effect in the picture. This feature was already available in this year's Huawei $150 smartphones.
Talking about the major difference, which is the chipset on the new iPhone XS and the iPhone XS max. The new smartphones come with A12 Bionic Chipset. According to Apple, A12 Bionic is 15% faster than A11 Bionic. And provides 50% lower power usage as it is based on 7Nm. I would say the biggest difference would be of the chipset if we compare the iPhone X and XS.
Other than performance advancement, minor camera improvements and additional 30 minutes of more battery life there isn't anything special about the iPhone XS.
So now let's move to the cheapest of all the all-new "iPhone XR".

iPhone XR: The new gen iPhone 5C!
The iPhone XR is a resurrection to iPhone 5C. It comes with almost same specifications as iPhone XS. It comes with the A12 Bionic chipset, a same rear camera with the absence of the telephoto lens, speakers & face ID. So the thing here, what's the difference then? Apart from the telephoto lens, their screen resolution can be a deal breaker for some people here. The resolution is slightly higher than 720p means you won't be able to view full HD videos on a $750 smartphone. The screen isn't an OLED panel but top-notch LED panel which they call Liquid Retina Display. According to Apple, this is the most advanced LED panel in the industry. Also, there is no 3D touch support on the iPhone XR.
Talking colors, the iPhone XR comes in 6 vibrant colors. You can choose from black, white, red, sky blue, orange and coral color options. You won't get the stainless steel frame for the XR but you would get an aluminum frame and glass sandwich design. The iPhone XR also lacks IP-68 certification as it comes with an IP-67. The battery will last an hour and a half as compared to last year's iPhone 8.

Final Verdict On The iPhone XS Max:
So if you have an iPhone X, and are wondering if you should upgrade then my answer would be a "No". Why? Because no doubt iPhone XS Max is an amazing phone but it ain't really worth an upgrade from the iPhone X other than if you want the dual sims and a greater display. I would recommend waiting for the next generation with a new design and eradication of the notch design.
Final Verdict On The iPhone XR:
The iPhone XR provides much more price to performance ratio. You get the latest iPhone features at $250 less. iPhone XR would be undoubtfully the most popular 2K18 iPhone device. Although, a 720p display might suck for the majority. But you have to lose something for it. I would recommend you to wait for the full review of the iPhone XR before purchase.
