With the recent release of Realme 3 pro, Xiaomi's latest mid-range device Redmi Note 7 is facing an tough competition. Realme 3 Pro is launched with those specifications which weren't there for consumers before. But the question is, Why are we comparing Redmi Note 7 to Realme 3 Pro and why not Redmi Note 7 Pro with Realme 3 Pro?
Well, the answer is simple. Redmi decided to launch it's pro version of mid-range king only in China & India. And here in Pakistan, the main two mid-range phones are these. The launching of Redmi Note 7 Pro was a part of their "marketing strategy", which I think is absolutely BS. In India, Youtubers are comparing the Pro version to Pro version, but here we'll have to compare the smaller brother.
But if you say comparing Realme 3 Pro to Redmi Note 7 is still not fine, then do remember they are priced very similar. Instead, Redmi Note 7 is expensive in Pakistan as only 4GB/128GB variant is available and that too at around RS.40K, whereas, Realme 3 Pro is available for at around RS.34K for 4/64GB variant. Now, since Redmi Note 7 is priced higher than Realme 3 Pro, let's see which phone provides more price to performance ratio by comparing segment of the phone including Design, Cameras, Performance, Battery Life, Display & Software.
Redmi Note 7 Vs Realme 3 Pro (Design)
Redmi Note 7 comes with an 6.3-inch IPS LCD with an tear-drop notch housing the selfie camera, the bezels are thin apart from the chin of the device which is huge if we compare to that of Realme 3 Pro. On the other side, Realme 3 Pro comes with an 6.3" display with tear drop notch having minimum bezels and even less bezels compared to Redmi Note 7. The front side of the device is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Whereas, both sides of Note 7 is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection as Redmi used glass on both sides.
The design on the Real Me 3 is okay-ish, here I would choose Redmi Note 7's design instead of going for Real Me 3 Pro. No doubt, the device looks really nice but the back panel isn't glass. The design on the Real Me 3 is okay-ish, here I would choose Redmi Note 7's design instead of going for Real Me 3 Pro. No doubt, the device looks really nice but the back panel isn't glass. And Redmi Note 7 design may feel more premium than that of Realme3 Pro.
Redmi Note 7 Vs Realme 3 Pro (Camera)
The camera segment on the Real Me 3 Pro is where Redmi's Note 7 might take an slight edge. As, the Real Me 3 Pro only comes with 16 MP Sony IMX519 f/1.7, the same sensor used on the Oneplus 6, it comes with dual sensor PDAF support and an 5 MP f/2.4 depth sensor. While the Note 7 features Samsung's 48MP sensor. Redmi Note 7 comes with 48 MP primary lens with an 5 MP depth sensor, the picture quality on the Redmi Note 7 is obviously better.
Both the phone, features night-mode that makes pictures captured in night view-able. And I would say the night scape mode on the Real Me 3 Pro is better than the night mode of Redmi Note 7. There's also an Chroma Boost in Realme 3 Pro primary sensor that is used to make your pictures more punchy. You'll see pictures captured on the Real Me 3 Pro are usually over saturated. The sensor on the Real Me 3 Pro is pretty average but with loads of software tweaks by Real Me.
On the front side, there is an 25 MP front camera on the Realme 3 Pro while there is an 13 MP sensor on Redmi Note 7. You'll get satisfactory results on both devices, but Realme 3 Pro has an edge over the Redmi Note 7 in the selfie segment.
Redmi Note 7 Vs Realme 3 Pro (Performance)
The Realme 3 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset, that is a big advancement as we only used to see Snapdragon 600 series chipsets in this price point. More over, Redmi Note 7 is using Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 which is using a weak GPU compared to Adreno 616 used in the Real Me Pro. The chipset is also based on 10 Nm technology compared to 14 Nm technology used in Snapdragon 660 SoC. In a nutshell, Snapdragon 710 SoC is top of the line chipset int his price segment.
In a nutshell, if gaming and performance is your main priority then Realme 3 Pro is your device to go for. It is the first device that supports Fortnite in this budget too, while Redmi Note 7 doesn't support Fortnite. But if you are thinking about Note 7, it shouldn't perform that bad either.
Redmi Note 7 Vs Realme 3 Pro (Battery Life)
Both the devices packs 4000mAH of battery with an additional 45mAH battery life on the Realme 3 Pro. In battery segment both devices are pretty much the same. No major differences, but when compared to charging technology it changes the game. Real Me 3 Pro supports VOOC Charging, Real Me 3 Pro supports VOOC Charging that can charge your phone to 100% in just 1 Hour and 15 Minutes and 48% in just 30 Minutes. On the other hand, Note 7 also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge, but it ain't that fast like VOOC charging. It may take 2 Hours to fully charge Note 7 even with Qualcomm fast charge.
I have an clear winner here which is the Realme. But also there's an con with Realme that is they used micro-USB port instead of Type-C. While, Redmi implemented Type-C port.
Redmi Note 7 Vs Realme 3 Pro (Software)
Both the devices use custom UI's. Redmi Note 7 uses MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie, while Realme 3 Pro uses Color OS 6 also based on Android 9.0 Pie. Color OS have improved from last gen, but I will give the point to MIUI here. MIUI is frankly speaking, better than Color OS. MIUI is more snappier, and have better looking UI in my opinions.
Redmi Note 7 Vs Realme 3 Pro (Price & Availability in Pakistan)
Realme 3 Pro is priced at Rs.33999 (Buy Here), with 4GB and 64GB internal storage variant. There is no news whether there will be another variant. On the other hand, Redmi Note 7 was launched with 3GB/32GB storage variant but it got out-of-stock, and now only 4GB/128GB variant is available for about RS.39999.
Redmi Note 7 Vs Realme 3 Pro (Final Verdict)
My final verdict is, Realme 3 Pro (Check Complete Realme 3 Pro Review) provides better price to performance ratio. There are some cons that will come buying Realme 3 Pro like lack of USB-Type C, 48MP Camera, and better UI but overall in less price you can get great performance, very fast battery, and an overall good phone.
